Getting to know and serve the Mole community with our first team of the summer!

The team arrived in the Mole near midnight on Friday. They were all very tired and some of them were a little sick... The team is from Crossroads Calvary Chapel in Flordia. We had a pretty relaxed day on Saturday so that the team could rest up and get to know the town. Saturday night we showed the movie Courageous at the town plaza. There weren't very many people around when we started the movie, but by the middle of the movie there were at least 200 people. It was really cool to watch how the people reacted to the movie. I spent a lot of the movie praying that the men in this community would be challenged by this film to be men of God and the spiritual leader of their homes. This community and all over Haiti many people are abused, physically and verbally. Children and adults are abused, especially those who cannot defend themselves. The staff here is in the process of starting a campaign against abuse. They are hoping to do a lot of educating the community about the dangers and effects of abuse. The past two days we have done VBS at the church with 90 kids. It has been a lot of work, but a lot of fun! The kids have been having a blast and the team has done a great job! We have two more days of VBS left. Please be praying as we wrap up VBS that the kids would feel safe to talk to the team and that they would all begin a relationship with Jesus. It may seem crazy to be praying that all the kids would accept Christ, but I know that our God is that big and that powerful!
