The Journey Has Begun!!!

I have been in Haiti for three days now and it has been SO good! It is still SO crazy to think that I am finally here after waiting for SO long to come back. Everyday, while I was waiting and praying for the chance to come back to the family and country that I had fallen in love with, my mind was constantly flooded with memories of my summer here last year. Ah! It is just SO great to be back!
Since I have been back, I got to see Caitlin after being separated for almost an entire year! I missed that girl SO much!!  I have also been able to reunite with some of the other missionaries that I served alongside last year. It was so great spending time with the beautiful kids in the Miriam Center. It was so sweet and special that several of them even remembered me. I have also been able to spend time getting to know the other interns for this summer as we have started training. Like I said, I am having a great time!
We spent the first day walking around St. Louis to the various locations that we take teams to do ministry and then spent the rest of the day going over what this summer will look like and what is expected of us. Yesterday we spent the morning travelling to Tortuga. It was pretty wavy because there was a HEAVY rainstorm last night, but no one got sick which was great! When we got back to the mission, I got to help the brothel girls make beads for the jewelry that they are selling through the mission’s new program Redeeming Gifts. It was SO fun to join them and to help them create jewelry that will help them care for themselves and their children. I loved it! I’m so excited to be able to continue helping with it when I am stateside by gathering some of the needed supplies.
Today we spent the day traveling to the Beauchamp and La Baie campuses. It definitely made us all very tired but it was a great trip! We especially had a great time in La Baie spending time loving on the boys there. We made it back to the mission just in time to beat the rainstorm that came through. It has rained every day that we have been here which us si different from last year when it only rained like two days all last summer.
Thank you everyone for your prayers. Me, Emily, and Haylee will be headed tomorrow morning to the Mole in order to prepare for the many teams that we will be serving and leading this summer there. I cannot wait to get back to the Mole and to get settled in there. I’m super excited to see Miss Beth, the staff, and the orphans! I missed them so much!

Bondye beni ou!
